Marvel reveals more details about their “Fresh Start”

For anyone not fully up to speed with their comicbook news, Marvel’s new Editor In Chief, CB Cebulski has initiated a “Fresh Start” for their comics in 2018. The basic idea is to reveal all of the secrets and answer fan questions about the history of the Marvel Universe.

Last year’s Marvel Legacy introduced the first Avengers from the year 1,000,000 BC, made up of the first Ghost Rider, Odin Borsson (Thor‘s dad), Agamotto, the original Sorcerer Supreme, Bashenga, who was the original Black Panther and others like Iron Fist and Phoenix. “Fresh Start” will answer the questions about the origins of these and other characters.

Tom Brevoort (Marvel‘s Executive Editor) explained that these reveals: “It’s the starting gun to a bevy of mysteries, secrets, and revelations that will reverberate across the Marvel Universe in the weeks and months to come!

When Avengers relaunches, in the aftermath of the current No Surrender storyline, Jason Aaron (The Mighty Thor) will be telling a single story across the past and present of the Marvel Universe, rewriting it’s ancient history.

Brevoort went on to say that the origin stories of these ancient Avengers will be told in a series of single issues during the run. “The first one will be Avengers #7,” Brevoort said, “the origin of the Mastodon-riding Ghost Rider of 1,000,000 BC, with artwork by Sara Pichelli.

While we’re here, Marvel has also confirmed the return of The Fantastic Four in August, written by Dan Slott and drawn by Sara Pichelli (who, it appears, is going to be busy!). Going by the latest teaser image, it’s looking like Franklin and Valeria have grown up a bit since we last saw them back in Marvel Legacy.  Could one of the male figures be Alex Power?  He did escape the destruction of the multiverse in Reed‘s lifeboat along with a few others, and we know that his sister, Katie, is waiting for him.
