Change, and not a moment too soon

Welcome to The An0m@ly Vault

I did say we were going to come back, didn’t I?

There’s going to be a lot of changes around here.  For a start, there’s a new name: The An0m@ly Vault (as mentioned above).  Why change the name?  I’d been doing The Wyrd Ways Rock Show for nearly ten years, and as you probably saw, the podcasts and updates to the website were getting less and less frequent.  Basically, I’d had enough.  I was going to cover the SOS Festival and that was going to be it.  Site closed, Soundcloud account cancelled, Podomatic account cancelled, then I was just going to let the domain name lapse and that would be the end of it.

But then at SOS, something happened.  For the first time in a while, I actually enjoyed myself whilst working on a show.  After talking to Cat, Lynne, Tosh and Emma, myself and Cat decided to rebrand and restart.

So this is the restart.

We’re intending to have a relaunch in a few weeks, but this is the start of getting everything in order for that.

So what’s the name about?  And the new logo?

Simple.  I’m a pretty big fan of Doctor Who.  I have been as long as I can remember.  As far as I can tell, my first story was The Invisible Enemy, which was a Fourth Doctor story where K9 made his first appearance.  I found that out when I watched the DVD a while ago.  I’ve followed the fortunes (and bought most of the stories) of Big Finish since they started.

I’m also REALLY looking forward to Jodie Whittaker’s first proper story as The Doctor.  I’m extremely glad Chibnall didn’t ask her to change her accent.  It means we’ve got a Huddersfield lass at the controls of the TARDIS!  OK, the clothes are a little… odd, but the Doctor always was somewhat sartorially challenged after a regeneration alongside the usual bout of regeneration sickness.

Ah.  OK.  Segue not intended.  Ahem.  An Anomaly Vault is a place on Gallifrey where remnants of aberrant or dead timelines are kept.  To me, that brings to mind a place where literally anything fits in.  Which is exactly what I want The An0m@ly Vault to be.  Yes, the musical focus will be on Hard Rock and Metal, since that’s what myself and Cat listen to.  Beyond that, there’ll be all kinds of geekery.  Things like comics, SF and fantasy TV, radio, films, games (both tabletop and video) and all kinds of places where Geek and Metal culture cross and merge.

Shall we…?
