Status Update

You may have noticed that things have been a bit quiet around here for a while.

There’s a reason for that – I’m waiting for a cataracts operation.  Which means I can’t really see well enough to work the software I use to produce The Wyrd Ways Rock Show.  Right now, making this post is requiring me to do a lot of squinting and getting up a bit too close to the screen.

Anyway, once my eyes have been repaired, I’ll be back properly.

If any creative people who are in or into Metal and Hard Rock want to do an interview about their musical tastes, especially if they’re women, sex workers, LGBTQIA+ or part of any kind of marginalised community, get in touch.  I don’t need to be able to see very well to be able to start and stop a Zoom interview.

Why am I doing interviews with those people especially?  Simple.  Metal is for everyone, and it’s a lot harder to “other” someone, or allow someone to be “othered” if they have things in common with you.  I have personal experience of women, sex workers, LGBTQIA+ and people from other marginalised people being some of the best people I’ve ever met.  I have, or have had, good friends in all those communities.  So I’m going to stand with them.  You should, too.

We of the Metal community, are in the majority one of the most welcoming and friendly sorts of people there are.  We’re also outsiders and us outsiders need to stick together, since the fascists who are currently in power in places like the US are going after the “soft” targets first.  Make no mistake about it, Metalheads, we’re on the list, just like we were in the 80’s.
