Are Rock and Metal the victim of a corporate hit-job?

This is interesting:

It didn’t just happen in the US, either. Over here in the UK, suddenly there were no Rock bands on Top Of The Pops, where even The Wildhearts had made several appearances. The Friday Rock Show on Radio 1 was removed and replaced by Pete Tong and his ilk and shoved into Sunday afternoon. It was then moved to midnight on a Tuesday/Wednesday before vanishing. The Rock Shows all but vanished from commercial radio.

So has there been a corporate attempt to kill Rock and Metal? Honestly, I’m not sure. It does seem like a conspiracy theory, but I do believe that record companies decided to pivot to concentrating on people that were easier to control. It’s obviously a lot easier to control a young girl or some young boys who you’ve put together, who you’re styling and writing the music for than it is a band that came together organically, toured off their own backs and write all their own music.

It also doesn’t help when Gene Simmons keeps declaring that “Rock is dead”, even when it so obviously isn’t when you take the time to look and listen.
